We arrived to rome airport where our driver met us and drove us to our apartment that i booked through airbnb.com. I had booked the driver through a groundlink promotion a while back for only 10 dollars. When we arrived to our apartment we were excited that it looked so nice.
After settling in, we had pizza nearby. Italian pizza is mostly thin crust an they cut it and sell it to you by weight. It cost about 5 usd for both of us.
We then took the metro into town to the Spanish Steps. We walked in the blistering sun Trevi fountain and threw a coin in. It was nice to see the real thing but I felt like I was in Vegas or some reason. We then walked to the pantheon and I bought a nice coffee ice slushy. Afterwards, we walked to piazza novella and then to campo de fiore. We finished with our first scoop of delicious gelato. It was a long day of walking in the 90 plus degrees sun.
At night we ate at a restaurant nearby called Pinco Pallino where jamie had spaghetti with basil and I had spaghetti with some kind of bacon. It was pretty good and only about 25 usd. It was a long day but we saw many things. The sights were amazing but at times it ha a Disneyland kind of feel where there are so many tourists and lines.
