~$300 Hawaii Flights from LAX/SFO/OAK!

Not sure how long this deal will last, but flights to Hawaii are usually $500-600 from the west coast.  Google released a new tool a while back that I think is an excellent tool to search for cheap airfare.  Click here to access google flights.

1. Enter cities first, i.e. LAX to HNL. Select dates. Click the graph button to see which dates result in the lowest cost.

Select # of Passengers and hit Book Now

You will be directed to the booking site. Purchase.

OAK-HNL $296 including taxes!

SFO-HNL $302 w/ taxes!

As an added bonus, if you have a Chase Freedom card, you can get an additional 5% cashback or ultimate rewards points on airfare this quarter!  Go here to activate your bonus if you haven’t.  I will post some more tips and tricks on credit cards coming up.  I traveled to Hawaii and Europe this year mostly for free on points and miles this year.

You can play around with the dates on Google Flights to see what else you can come up with.  Unfortunately I can’t go during this time, maybe some of you can.  I usually use points and miles to fly to Hawaii, but it is a bit complex to explain how that works. Milevalue.com has some explanation and introduction to points and miles, visit his site.  http://milevalue.com/the-cheapest-ways-to-get-to-hawaii/.

Instructions:

1. Sign up for a Jetsetter account here.

2. Search for hotels.

3. Enter Code jetset75.

4. Book the hotel.  I would book separate one-night reservations if you want to do multiple nights to get $75 off on each night.

Day 10/11 – Venice

We arrived in Venice by train and took the public “boat” to our hotel, Westin Europa and Regina. Since we were backpacking, we were able to take the public boat easily.  To book this hotel, I used 12,000 Starpoints per night thanks to my American Express SPG Credit Card.  The hotel’s location was in the middle of the city near San Marco’s Square.  The hotel would have cost $500 a night without points!  We took a gondola, many boat rides, and ate lots of good food.  Here are some pictures of Venice.

Day 7 – Exploring Cinque Terre

We explored each of the five towns today.  Each town had its own unique flavor.  We started off in Monterosso, which is the most developed beach town resort.  I swam in the ocean for a while and we renting umbrellas to relax in the sun.  Afterwards, we took the train to each town and ate lunch/gelato/snacks.  We took a walk from the second town to the first town, called Lover’s Walk.  Cinque Terre has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.

Day 6 – Train to Cinque Terre

We took the train to Cinque Terre, which is a region with five small beach towns along the coast.  The train was delayed and we didn’t get to our destination until around 6pm.  We stayed in the city of Corniglia, which was a small quaint town next to the beach.  The views were amazing.  I’ll let the photos do the talking.Image
